Assurance of Program Integrity
In order to recognize AVID sites in an annual basis after the implementation
year, and to ensure program integrity and implementation of
AVID Program Implementation Essentials, an annual certification process
was developed in the fall of 1996 by the AVID Center in San Diego. To use the
AVID trade name, trademark, and logo, each school must agree to annual
participation in the certification process and must be recognized as an
Affiliate, Certified, or Distinguished AVID School.
The AVID Certification process has many benefits:
-
Opportunity for self-study and monitoring of program implementation and student
progress;
-
Recognition as Certified AVID School if
AVID Program Implementation Essentials
are met;
-
As Certified AVID School, ability to use AVID name to secure grants and awards;
-
Direct support from regional staff to enhance implementation of
AVID Program Implementation Essentials;
-
Access to comparative data that profiles the site’s AVID Program;
-
Annual recognition of Certified AVID Schools and exemplary programs;
-
Assurance of AVID Program integrity.
